leafless
A downloadable game for Windows
Hi I'm David
This was my very first game jam! The game i made is very much inspired by the game hollow knight which i played recently, I really liked the movement and the level designs so I set out to try my hands on it as well. I programmed all of it in python using the pygame library, and most of the pixel art and animations I made using https://www.pixilart.com.
In total I made 5 big drawings one for each level and the cover image (320x180 px average)
The character and its animation frames totalled in 78 smaller drawings (32x32 px)
About the game
You play a shadowy character with a leaf on his back. Equipped with a thorn as weapon you can explore the few levels I made and fight/interact with the creatures that you'll find there. I hope you enjoy!
In case you want to speedrun:
There are two speed run categories:
- Speed run with wall jumps
- Speed run without wall jumps
You can enable or disable the wall jumps in the main menu. You start a run by pressing start for the first time or pressing restart. Your run ends when you enter the last level (the level behind the bird boss). To see your time just talk to the TV in the last room.
Good luck!
Notes:
- New rooms are indicated with a bright green rectangle
- If you fall out the map, pressing n should fix this

Lovely game! Looks and plays nicely. Great pixel art. I loved the screen shaking effect on the bird boss.
Was there any sound? I didn't seem to hear anything.
Congratulations on your victory in the unofficial otter jam!
thank you so much! There wasn't any sound unfortunately so I'll be focusing on that next jam!
I had a lot of fun participating, so thanks for organising the jam Katie!
